Otherwise, the two models are identical as each sports: a 158cc Briggs & Stratton engine, a 21" cutting deck, single-speed front-wheel drive and dual-lever height adjustment.
The 12A-A14X229's 21" cutting deck sports a symmetrical design which increases air and grass flow under the mower, allowing it to better mulch grass clippings. Its single-speed front-wheel drive allows the 12A-A14X229 to aid the user in pushing the mower for much less strenuous mowing. Meanwhile, the 12A-A14X229's dual-lever height adjustment allows its deck height to be adjusted between 1 1/4" and 3 3/4" for optimal cutting height in any situation.
