The Cons:The rip fence has a 'dead zone' that prevents a small range of cuts from being ripped no matter if the fence is in the left or right position. It is about 3 1/2" -3 3/4". Rip fence could be longer.

The Makita 5008MGA is a 8-1/4" magnesium circular saw that comes with some of the nice features of the newer Makita saws. It has built-in LED lights that illuminate the line of cut to visually aide the owner, and is made out of magnesium components that reduce the weight down to 10.6 without compromising its durability or jobsite toughness.

The Makita 5008MGA has a cutting capacity of 3" at 90 degrees and a bevel capacity of 50 degrees with positive stops at 22.5 degrees and 45 degrees. The motor packs 2,300W while the rubberized levers allow the consumer to make one-handed, fast adjustments.
