Otherwise, the two chainsaws sport the same basic features including: an X-Torq engine design, tool-less chain tensioning and an air injection system.

The 240 e-series' X-Torq engine design reduces fuel consumption and fuel emissions, making it more environmentally friendly while at the same time reducing fuel costs. Its tool-less chain tensioning system allows the 240's chain and bar to be tensioned and assembled more quickly than standard tensioning systems, all without the need for tools. Additionally, the 240 e-series' air injection system utilizes constant airflow in order to reduce incoming debris, lengthening engine life and reducing the amount of times needed to clean the filter.
